So, what made you decide to run?

I've had this asked several times and the most simple answer is because I'm Tom and Suzi Spears' daughter. I was raised by them to believe, firstly, that everyone can make a difference, and secondly, that every person matters and has value.

For almost three decades I have devoted myself to working and volunteering in this community. From peewee softball and hours spent in ballfield concession stands to mutual aid events and direct outreach with our unhoused friends and neighbors, my heart has always belonged to my community. Today I run a mutual aid network of over 1,200 members, doing much of that work myself and filling the gaps that government programs and nonprofits often can't reach.

Through my personal and professional projects my focus has always been the same: how can I bring more to my community? More resources, more services, more funds, more compassion. Scioto County has real talent, real creativity, and real people worth investing in, and I want to see a county that rises up to meet them.

Scioto County is my home. That is why I made the decision to run and why I want to be your next Commissioner.
